Suffolk Federal Goes the Distance as their VP Of Information Technology, Eva Casale, Runs 7 Marathons (184 Miles) In 7 Days
Will Support Veterans By Raising Funds & Awareness For ‘Hope for the Warriors’
Suffolk Federal will be the lead sponsor for extreme distance marathon runner Eva Casale as she completes seven marathons in seven days to raise funds and awareness for Hope for the Warriors. Eva will run a total of 184 miles from April 22 through April 28 and will start or finish each marathon centered around honoring local servicemen killed in action and linked to communities they called home. “I wanted to put my passion for running to work for veterans so we created Team E.V.A. which stands for ‘Every Veteran Appreciated,’” said Eva Casale, ultra-marathoner and Vice President of Information Technology for Suffolk Federal. “The sole purpose of Hope for the Warriors is to help our veterans who have sacrificed so much to keep us safe, so they can succeed here at home. The programs they offer for post-9/11 active duty and reserve service members, veterans, military caregivers and families of the fallen, are making a tangible difference in people’s lives. It’s an honor for me to organize and run this event and to know that I can bring even more people together to take part in such an important mission.”
Last year Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone joined Team E.V.A. on their marathon journey. "Eva Casale has proven to be a true friend of Suffolk County veterans with her Team E.V.A. ‘Every Veteran Appreciated’ event,” said Suffolk County Executive, Steve Bellone. “We're proud to have such a gifted athlete and thoughtful individual who has contributed so much to our veterans right here in Suffolk County, and look forward to this series of runs again in April."
One of Suffolk Federal’s priorities is to support and give back to the communities the credit union serves. “Giving back is always a priority at Suffolk Federal,” said Ralph D. Spencer Jr., President & CEO, Suffolk Federal. “Suffolk County is home to more veterans than any county in New York State, and more than most other counties in the entire nation. For this reason—and as a United States Air Force veteran—I believe that supporting our community’s veterans is not just a choice, but a responsibility. We are honored to be the lead sponsor of Eva and are proud to support her mission—not just to raise funds, but to bring attention to the needs of these brave men and women and their families who sacrifice so much. We invite our members and the extended community to join us in April as we cheer on Team E.V.A. in her seven-day journey.”
This year’s marathons will take place in Northport, West Babylon, Shelter Island, Southampton, Riverhead, Sayville and Medford and will once again support Hope For The Warriors®. This organization provides comprehensive support programs for service members, veterans, and military families that are focused on transition, health and wellness, peer engagement, and connections to community resources. Their programs serve post-9/11 active duty, National Guard, and reserve service members and veterans from all branches of the military. “This is the second year that Eva Casale is running this amazing event in support of Hope for the Warriors,” said Steve Bartomioli, Director, Hope for the Warriors. “Individual efforts that support our organization—efforts like this extraordinary series of seven marathons that Eva is running this April —are vital to our ability to serve post-9/11 service members. We are grateful to Eva, and to Suffolk Federal, for supporting our veterans in need.”
