Suffolk Federal’s VP of Information Technology Eva Casale Goes the Distance As Eva Runs 7 Marathons (184 Miles) in 7 Days

Will Canvass Local Communities and Support Veterans By Raising Funds & Awareness for Hope For The Warriors

Suffolk Federal is the lead sponsor for extreme distance ultra-marathon runner and VP of Information Technology, Eva Casale as she completes an incredible seven marathons in seven days to raise funds and awareness for Hope For The Warriors.  Eva will run a total of 184 miles during her “Every Veteran Appreciated Week” which will take place from April 22 through April 28.

Each marathon will be focused on honoring local servicemen killed in action and will be linked to communities they called home. Casale has invited communities and their residents to proudly display their American Flag to show support for our Troops, our Veterans and our Fallen Heroes as each marathon takes place.

“I wanted to put my passion for running to work for veterans so we created Team E.V.A. which stands for ‘Every Veteran Appreciated,’” explains Casale. “The sole purpose of Hope For The Warriors is to help our veterans who have sacrificed so much to keep us safe, so they can succeed here at home. The programs they offer for post-9/11 active duty and reserve service members, veterans, military caregivers and families of the fallen, are making a tangible difference in people’s lives. It’s an honor for me to organize and run this event and to know that I can bring even more people together to take part in such an important mission.”

Last year Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone joined Team E.V.A. on their marathon journey.  "Eva Casale has proven to be a true friend of Suffolk County veterans with her Team E.V.A. ‘Every Veteran Appreciated’ event,” said Suffolk County Executive, Steve Bellone. “We're proud to have such a gifted athlete and thoughtful individual who has contributed so much to our veterans right here in Suffolk County, and look forward to this series of runs again in April."

One of Suffolk Federal’s priorities is to support and give back to the communities the credit union serves.  “Giving back is always a priority at Suffolk Federal,” said Ralph D. Spencer Jr., President & CEO. “Suffolk County is home to more veterans than any county in New York State, and more than most other counties in the entire nation. For this reason—and as a United States Air Force veteran—I believe that supporting our community’s veterans is not just a choice, but a responsibility. We are honored to be the lead sponsor of Eva and are proud to support her mission—not just to raise funds, but to bring attention to the needs of these brave men and women and their families who sacrifice so much. We invite our members and the extended community to join us in April as we cheer on Team E.V.A. in her seven-day journey.”

This year’s marathons Opening Ceremonies will take place at the Huntington Elks Lodge #1565.  From there the team will begin their marathons in Northport, West Babylon, Shelter Island, Southampton, Sag Harbor, Middle Island, Sayville, Farmingville and Medford. The Closing Ceremonies will take place at Suffolk Federal’s Headquarters in Medford as Eva and her team completes the last marathon.
