In an effort to support the charitable work of local organizations that serve the areas of Suffolk Federal branch locations, the credit union has identified nonprofit organizations to provide financial support to. In Medford, Assistant Branch Manager Megan Diehl (left) and Branch Manager Vagira Seedeen of Suffolk Federal (right) present a $500 contribution to Walk to End Alzheimer’s Walk (Yaphank) Event Co-Chair Jane Waller and Alzheimer's Association Associate Director of Development Judy Wichter. Suffolk Federal members and employees also contributed to the cause through a branch-wide fundraising effort and by participating in the Alzheimer’s Association recent Walk to End Alzheimer’s event raising nearly an additional $2,500.
“I have seen firsthand what Alzheimer’s can do to a person and how it effects families,” said Diehl. “All of us here at Suffolk Federal are proud to support the incredible work of the Alzheimer’s Association, which provides vital services to Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers while bearing the burden of the costs involved.”
“On behalf of the Alzheimer's Association Long Island Chapter, I would like to thank Suffolk Federal for their ongoing support of our Yaphank Walk to End Alzheimer's event,” said Wichter. “For the second year in a row, all nine branches have sold our point of purchase forget-me-not flowers. This year the Medford branch went above and beyond by donating an additional $500. We’re also extremely appreciative of the efforts of Medford’s Assistant Branch Manager Megan Diehl for giving so much of her time as an active member of our Walk Planning Committee this year. To date, the 2017 Yaphank Walk to End Alzheimer's event has raised over $128,000 and still counting, as we are accepting donations through December. These funds will help us to increase or maintain the reach of care and support services for our constituents and their families.”
