Amplify Credit Union announced March 9 its plans to expand with a new branch in North Austin in 2027.
The branch will mark the credit union’s first new branch in nearly a decade, according to a news release.
The details
The credit union provides personal and business banking services such as checking and savings accounts; home, auto and commercial real estate loans; and has a money market. The branch will also feature a meeting space available at no cost to its business members and community partners, per the news release.
Amplify selected the Tech Ridge location following a market analysis conducted by La Macchia Group, a design-build firm specializing in financial institutions, the release states. The study identified that this corridor is “comparatively underbanked.”
“We’re adding physical locations because when we’ve seen that when members want confidence and connectedness, they often seek it in a branch,” said Stacy Armijo, chief experience officer at Amplify Credit Union. “It might be tempting to think that’s only members who have been banking for decades or who aren’t comfortable with digital technologies, but that’s not what we’re seeing. In fact, while baby boomers choose to walk into an Amplify branch to open accounts twice as often as they do so online, Gen Z is actually four times as likely to choose the branch over online.”
What else?
Officials said the credit union, which has other locations in the North Austin area including The Domain, Cedar Park and Round Rock, is pursuing additional expansion opportunities in high-growth areas such as Williamson County.
