Bank of America has announced a new commitment of $250 million over the next five years to address hunger and basic needs across the United States, including an immediate $5 million donation to support nearly 100 local nonprofit organizations working on the front lines of hunger relief.

Local and Nationwide Impact

The $5 million in immediate assistance will go to nearly 100 nonprofits that provide food and support to local communities experiencing urgent needs. This initiative is part of a broader five-year plan in which $250 million will be distributed nationwide to combat food insecurity and support basic needs for families across the country.

Ongoing Support and Employee Engagement

The commitment also extends to Bank of America’s existing partnerships with more than 1,200 organizations focused on hunger and related needs. Employees are pledged to volunteer over 100,000 hours with hunger-relief organizations until the year’s end, and Bank of America will match employee donations, dollar for dollar, to hunger-focused nonprofits.

Statement and Purpose

The bank’s leadership emphasized that addressing food insecurity is central to their mission of supporting the well-being of the communities where they operate, building on years of philanthropic giving, volunteering, and local partnerships.

This holistic approach is designed not just to provide immediate relief, but also to foster long-term improvements in food security nationwide.
