Caribe Federal Credit Union plans to relocate three offices as part of a $2 million modernization effort.
Caribe Federal Credit Union plans to relocate three of its six branches in 2026, committing more than $2 million to the effort as it marks its 75th anniversary.
The relocations will take place in Río Grande, Guaynabo and Añasco, municipalities where the credit union already operates. Officials said the investment is part of a broader modernization and long-term growth strategy.
“Thanks to the support of our 61,845 members, at Caribe Federal we have reaffirmed our leadership and managed to increase our assets to $762 million,” said Jorge R. Menéndez, CEO of Caribe Federal.
“Guided by our motto of offering ‘Service with human warmth’ combined with financial products with the best interests in the market, during this year we celebrate 75 years of service with a trajectory of sustained growth,” he said.
Menéndez said the goal is to have the three updated branches operating before September.
“To give continuity to our strategic plan, before September we hope to have three modern branches, an initiative that will set a precedent for our institution and will translate into greater accessibility and convenience for our members,” he said.
Under the plan, the Río Grande branch will move from Pimentel Street to the Río Grande Town Center shopping center. In Añasco, the branch on 65 de Infantería Street will relocate to a new site along Highway 2.
In Guaynabo, operations will transfer from Caribe Federal’s executive offices on Las Cumbres Avenue to the space formerly occupied by Scotiabank at San Patricio Plaza. Officials said the new location offers expanded parking. The current Guaynabo building will be used to expand administrative functions.
The credit union will continue operating branches in Ponce and San Juan, including offices in Hato Rey and the Federal Court building on Chardón Avenue.
As part of its anniversary activities, Caribe Federal said it plans community initiatives with the San Juan Art League and the San Juan Community Library, along with corporate donations to nonprofit organizations.
Founded in 1951, Caribe Federal Credit Union operates as a nonprofit institution organized under federal law. Originally established to serve federal employees in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, it now provides services to select employee groups and affiliated community organizations.
