Central Illinois churches band together, pay off nearly $5M in medical debt

Central Illinois churches across Champaign, Macon and nearby counties have pooled donations to buy and cancel nearly $5 million in medical debt that had been sold to collection agencies, wiping it out for thousands of local families at pennies on the dollar through a partnership with Undue Medical Debt (formerly RIP Medical Debt).
