Finances are among the top causes of divorce, with a whopping 41% of couples citing money troubles as a key factor. So it would make sense that positive financial situations could be linked to stronger romantic partnerships.

It’s an insight Credit One Bank is highlighting in celebration of Credit Education Month, with a project that taps into the cultural phenomenon of dating shows. Premiering today on TikTok and Instagram, the six-episode series created in partnership with creative agency Deutsch stars the financially savvy dating show alumnus JaNa Craig, who looks for her ‘Credit One’ perfect match.

In each episode of ‘You’re the Credit One for Me’, JaNa weeds out contestants who exhibit questionable credit habits, offering viewers an accessible way to learn the dos and don’ts of building a healthy relationship with their credit habits.

Carly Blitz, VP, creative director at Deutsch, tells LBB the idea grew from the insight that couples who align on the importance of good credit tend to last longer. “The series hit the mark thanks to JaNa’s authentic passion for financial literacy, sharp timing, and a self-aware, spot-on parody of reality TV tropes that feels equal parts guilty pleasure and genuinely smart advice.”

Episodes will mirror classic reality TV moments, from group dates and eliminations to meeting the parents and a proposal. This unfolds while simultaneously bringing a real credit behaviour to life, including things like paying on time, managing utilisation, keeping accounts open, and avoiding damage to credit history – each storyline is rooted in practical habits.

Credit One’s SVP of brand advertising, Amber Greenwalt, places the work within the context of the bank’s ongoing commitment to provide credit education that is engaging and approachable. She tells LBB, “The series is designed for easy consumption – short, bingeable, social-first episodes that make learning about credit feel relatable, fun, and memorable.”

Pairing credit responsibility and romantic compatibility allows the brand to move beyond the conventional. “Instead of simply listing best credit habits, we could use the beloved structure of a reality dating show to bring those habits to life,” says Amber.

“This format lets us tell a story and allows viewers to learn through the funny and relatable missteps of the contestants.”

She gives an example of one contestant, Brad, who ruins his chances at finding love with JaNa when she discovers he’s cancelled his credit card. “A great reason to be sent home, because cancelling your card hurts your credit score!”

The bank is aware that one of the most enjoyable ways to learn is when you don’t know you are doing so, and play as a vehicle can be extremely effective. Viewers can expect a weekly rollout of episodes, and can also visit www.creditwreckers.com to access additional resources for healthy credit habits.
