In light of ongoing needs within the community, Aspire Credit Union has announced it donated more than $1,700 in 2025 to the Minot Public School Foundation (MPSF) to provide essential warm winter gear for students, including gloves, hats, snow bibs, coats, and other cold-weather essentials.

North Dakota winters are unforgiving, and school counselors, teachers, and staff shared concerns about students facing the cold without proper winter clothing for outdoor activities and daily travel to and from school, according to information from Aspire.

“Supporting local matters because this is our community; these are our neighbors’ kids, our schools, and our future,” said Kevin Vigested, CEO at Aspire Credit Union. “When we invest locally, we see the impact firsthand. For the second year, we’re proud to help keep students warm so they can show up to school ready to learn, not worried about the cold.”

The donated winter gear includes high-quality items in a wide range of sizes to meet the needs of students of all ages. The MPSF has a distribution list ready for the students in need and will continue dispersal throughout the season.

“This partnership makes a real difference for students who need warm winter gear. When students are properly prepared for our climate, they can focus on their education and fully participate in the school day. Aspire’s commitment to our local children truly shows the power of community,” said Jamie Swensen, MPSF executive director.
