The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has filed a lawsuit against StubHub Holdings Inc., accusing the company of failing to clearly disclose the full cost of tickets to consumers.
According to Bloomberg, the complaint was filed Thursday in federal court in New York and alleges that the ticketing platform withheld mandatory fees and charges until the final stages of the checkout process. Regulators argue that this practice prevented customers from seeing the true price of tickets upfront, potentially influencing purchasing decisions.
The Federal Trade Commission said StubHub’s approach violates rules introduced in 2025 that require ticket sellers to present “all-in pricing” from the beginning of a transaction. These rules were designed to ensure transparency by showing consumers the full cost, including service fees, before they proceed to checkout.

Per Bloomberg, the agency claims that StubHub’s platform design may mislead users by initially displaying lower prices that do not reflect the final amount charged. Only at the last step of the purchase process are additional fees revealed, creating what regulators describe as a deceptive pricing structure.
According to Bloomberg, the FTC maintains that such practices undermine consumer trust and conflict with updated protections aimed at eliminating hidden costs in online transactions. The lawsuit seeks to hold the company accountable for allegedly failing to comply with these newer standards.
