Members 1st Federal Credit Union has been recognized as one of America’s Best Regional Banks and Credit Unions 2026. The designation followed a study of all U.S. regional banks and credit unions by Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group.

It is the third consecutive year Members 1st has achieved the recognition, according to a press release.

“Our members inspire everything we do, and this recognition is a testament to the trust they place in us,” Michael Wilson, president and CEO of Members 1st. “Each day, our associates show up as servant leaders, committed to making a meaningful difference. I am incredibly proud of their dedication and grateful that the impact of their work has received national recognition.”

This year’s study of regional banks and credit unions considered customer satisfaction with service, perks and benefits, as well as fees and interest rates. At the same time, the study also assessed each institution’s financial strength, operational performance and stability.

“More than 140,000 respondents were considered, making America’s Best Regional Banks and Credit Unions 2026 one of the largest studies of its kind,” the release stated.

The study determined the top 500 regional banks and top 500 credit unions.

“More than financial service providers, credit unions are community partners, showing up in neighborhoods, participating in local initiatives and helping strengthen the connections that bind their members together,” Jennifer H. Cunningham, editor-in-chief of Newsweek, said in a statement.

Marking its 75th anniversary, Members 1st serves more than 615,000 members from nearly 60 branch locations across 11 Pennsylvania counties, including:  Adams, Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Lycoming, Northampton, Perry and York. In Berks, the credit union has two branches: 4363 Perkiomen Ave. in Exeter Township, which opened in March 2021; and 4620 W. Penn Ave. in South Heidelberg Township, which opened in November 2021.
