What the partnership does
-
MIB will offer insurers real‑time employment and income verification sourced from Equifax, a Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)–regulated provider of consolidated employment data.
-
The data covers up to 24 months of employment and income history for more than 238 million individuals in the U.S. workforce, representing over half of active workers.
-
Information available to life insurers includes job title, tenure with employer, and income details, updated every pay cycle and accessible 24/7 for underwriting workflows.
Why it matters for insurers
-
It aims to reduce misrepresentation and gaps in self‑reported income, a long‑standing challenge in financial underwriting and in assessing whether requested coverage is financially justified.
-
Insurers can use the verified data to evaluate employment stability, which can inform expectations about policy placement and lapse risk.
-
Because the service is integrated into MIB’s existing Medical Data Solutions platform, including alongside MIB’s EHR offering, carriers can request income/employment data within the same digital process they use for medical records, improving speed and efficiency.
Who it is for
-
The service is available to all MIB members using the MDS platform, whether or not they use other MIB medical data products.
-
It is particularly positioned to help with applicants who have a thin digital footprint, where other financial or behavioral data sources are limited.
