The office says that personal information may have been accessed during a data breach in early August.
HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office reported a data security incident that may have exposed personal information, officials said Friday.
The breach was detected on Aug. 9, and an investigation determined that certain files may have been accessed without authorization. Information in those files could include names, Social Security numbers and, in some cases, medical details, according to the office.
Officials said at this time, there is no evidence that the information has been misused. The office notified affected individuals by email on Nov. 14 and has offered identity protection services to some. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has been informed and is assisting in the case.
