Update your calendar with these critical dates, including networking and advocacy opportunities.

Here are some important dates and deadlines to put on your calendar for June:

  1. Apply for the Georgia Collectors Association’s Scholarship: Each year, GCA offers up to $1,500 in scholarships divided among selected high school seniors, college students, or those attending vocational training. The deadline to apply is May 31. Learn more.
  2. Benchmarking Opportunity: ACA’s Benchmarking Intelligence platform lets you anonymously compare your operations with industry peers. Good news! The data submission schedule moved from quarterly to annual, making it even easier to participate. The submission period starts June 1. Learn more.

Attend ACA’s Washington Insights Fly-In: This upcoming conference will provide members with opportunities to support ACA’s advocacy efforts, interact with lawmakers and learn about the latest issues on Capitol Hill.   4. California Debt Collection Advisory Committee Meeting: California’s seven-member board, which provides feedback to the DFPI on matters related to the debt collection industry, including its debt collection licensing program, will meet at 10 a.m. PT June 5. Learn more.
  5. Attend the Upcoming State Guide Cohort: ACA’s next State Guide Cohort, which will explore recent state law and licensing changes, will be held June 10 at 1 p.m. CT. Learn more.
  6. Register for ACA’s Annual Convention & Expo: We’ll be in Louisville, Kentucky, this July for our annual convention, so start making your plans to attend! You can get a discount on your registration when you sign up by June 11, and you can take advantage of our special hotel room rate when you book by June 30. Learn more.
  7. Pre-Convention Chat Special Offer: The Small Agency Jam, The Clinic and At the Bar community chats will be in-person at convention!   8. Comment on NYC Debt Collection Rule Amendments: New York City’s Department of Consumer and Worker Protection is seeking comments on proposed amendments to new rules for debt collectors. Comments are due June 10, and a public hearing on the proposal will be held at 11 a.m. ET that day. Learn more.
  9. Share Your Thoughts with the CFPB: The bureau is reviewing a 2024 rule that established a registry tracking enforcement actions against nonbank entities, including debt collectors. Public comments are due by June 13. Learn more.
  10. Washington State Garnishment Exemptions: Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson has signed Senate Bill 5651 to increase garnishment exemptions except in bankruptcy proceedings. It takes effect July 1. Learn more.
