The Federal Trade Commission announced on April 9 that StubHub will pay $10M to settle charges for “deceptively advertising ticket prices on its website without clearly and conspicuously disclosing up-front how much consumers actually would pay, including all mandatory fees,” according to Greta Cross of USA TODAY. The settlement involves tickets purchased from the retailer between May 12-14, 2025. The FTC’s announcement comes after the agency sent StubHub a “warning letter” on May 14, 2025, which found that the retailer was “displaying inaccurate ticket prices for the 2025 NFL season.” In its official complaint, the FTC noted that available tickets for an Eagles-Cowboys game in November 2025 were “initially listed at $236 each.” However, after selecting the tickets, consumers “learned the cost was actually $319 due to a $59 fee and $24 in taxes.” StubHub in a statement said that the company has “reached out to consumers who purchased tickets between May 12-14, 2025, with additional information.” The FTC’s order was issued on April 9 and states that StubHub “must begin issuing its settlement 90 days after,” which would be July 8 (USA TODAY, 4/13).
