Every summer Travis Credit Union selects 20 local college-bound high school graduates to award the Community Impact Scholarship. This year, of those 20, eight were selected from Solano County schools.

“We are honored to support these outstanding students as they embark on their next chapter,” said Kevin Miller, president and CEO of Travis Credit Union. “Their hard work, resilience, and passion for giving back to their communities truly embody the spirit of Travis Credit Union’s Community Impact Scholarship.”

Each graduating senior is slated to receive a $2,000 scholarship to support their college education. The scholarships are awarded on a basis of three criteria; academic achievements, dedication to community service, and credit union membership.

Eight hardworking seniors were selected from the following Solano County schools including ones from Benicia, Vacaville, Vanden, Will C. Wood and Vacaville Christian.

  • Olivia Kuch, Vacaville Christian High School
  • Maya Chakraverty, Benicia High School
  • Kristian Baisac, Fairfield High School
  • Hannah Trinh, Will C. Wood High School
  • Jenna Cole, Vacaville High School
  • Noah Guerra, Vanden High School
  • Nathan Bloom, Dixon High School
  • Manny Chizer, Armijo High School

The credit union’s Community Impact Scholarship program has awarded more than $637,000 to over 400 students since its establishment roughly 21 years ago. Each year, in awarding a group of community-minded students, they are upholding their “commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders through education and civic engagement,” said Travis Credit Union in a press release.

Graduate of Vanden High School, Noah Guerra, is set to attend the University of California Riverside in the fall where he will pursue mechanical engineering. In Guerra’s words, he is, “deeply grateful,” to the credit union for selecting him. “Their support from within my own community supports my goals and will help me pursue my passion for mechanical engineering,” he said.

Manny Chizer, another Solano County grad from Armijo High School is planning on utilizing his scholarship money to cover light expenses when he attends the University of California Berkeley. “I am blessed to have been with them for so long,” said the credit union member and graduate, “I’m truly appreciative of this scholarship that they so generously provided. I cannot wait to continue my education knowing Travis has my back through the way,” he said. Chizer is set to pursue a business degree at the esteemed university in the fall.
