PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Tyndall Federal Credit Union is celebrating seven decades of service, community, and trust.

What started as a single branch on Tyndall Air Force Base in 1956 has grown to 10 locations across Florida and Alabama, serving more than 100,000 members.

The credit union celebrated with a ribbon-cutting alongside the Bay County and Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce.

“We have some of our original members here today, and it’s such an honor to see where we started from their perspective and where we are today,” said Larry Bailey, director of retail operations at Tyndall Federal Credit Union. “But the fact that we are able to reach our members across the entire United States is quite amazing. It’s been an honor and a privilege to be able to have met so many remarkable people. Without our members, we wouldn’t be where we are today.”

Gracie Nichols, a member since the 1970s, praised the service she has received over the decades.

“The service I got. If I called here, someone could always help me, and if they couldn’t help me, they knew who could,” Nichols said. “And so it was just wonderful to have the security to have people who know what they are doing.”
